Former Georgia Tech basketball star Josh Okogie has been named an NBA Rising Star for the second time.

Former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket star guard Josh Okogie is continuing to make strides in his NBA career and has added another accomplishment. On Friday, Okogie was named to his second NBA Rising Stars game where he will represent Team World, a team made up of players from outside the United States.

Last season, Okogie earned his first Rising Star team selection after being a first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. He played 18 minutes in the game and scored 13 points in a 161-144 winning effort for Team World.

Okogie this season has played in 45 games for the Timberwolves. In those 45 games, he’s averaged 8.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He’s also given the Timberwolves a great boost defensively this season with 2.1 steals per 100 possessions and 0.9 blocks. He also ranks in the Timberwolves top half of players when it comes to defensive rating.

The NBA Rising Star game will be played on Friday, February 14th as part of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend.

During his time at Georgia Tech, Okogie quickly became a star for the Yellow Jackets. As a true freshman, Okogie played in 37 games, averaging 16.1 points per game. As a sophomore, Okogie missed a few games but still put up stellar numbers when on the court. He averaged 18.2 points per game that season, among the highest averages in the ACC for the season. He earned third-team All-ACC honors in 2018 for his efforts.
