The 2021 Recruiting Cycle at a National Level

Top-Recruiting Classes:

Some programs are well into their 2021 recruiting classes. Currently, at the top of the 2021 recruiting rankings is the Ohio State Buckeyes according to 247Sports composite class rankings. The Buckeyes already have 10 commitments including one, five-star and seven, four-star commitments. Behind Ohio State, filling out the top-five is Clemson, Notre Dame, Florida, and Texas.

Top Prospects:

The nation’s top two prospects according to 247Sports have already committed with California defensive end Korey Foreman, the nation’s top overall prospect committing to the Clemson Tigers (shocker!) and the nation’s No.2 defensive end Jack Sawyer, committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes. The only other top-10 player nationally committed is Georgia native Brock Vandagriff, who recently committed to UGA.

That leads us to one thing that has been highly noticable already in the 2021 recruiting cycle. The nation’s elite quarterbacks are committing early, looking to become leaders of their future programs 2021 recruiting class. Eight of the country’s top-10 pro-style quarterback prospects have already committed. With dual-threat quarterbacks, six of the top-10 have made their collegiate decisions. That being said, it is a very strong quarterback class on paper with 23 quarterbacks ranked in the country’s top-250 prospects.

The nation’s current top uncommitted prospect is Texas offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer. Outside of the quarterback position, it does seem that a lot of prospects are taking their time in their recruitment process. Out of the nation’s top-50 prospects per 247Sports, only 15 have made their commitment.

In-State Talent Overview:

Currently, Georgia in the 2021 recruiting cycle has 26-players ranked as four stars or better, including nine top-100 players, and two five-stars according to 247Sports’s composite rankings. Those two five-stars are quarterback Brock Vandagriff and offensive tackle Amarius Mims. Vandagriff is currently committed to Georgia after being committed to Oklahoma for a short time. Mims, on the other hand is currently uncommitted. Georgia Tech’s current 2021 recruiting class.
