Georgia Tech’s Jose Alvarado and Michael Devoe were very impressive in Wednesday night’s road win in Winston-Salem.

On Wednesday night, Georgia Tech basketball took on the Wake Forest Demon deacons in a crucial late season ACC matchup. The Yellow Jackets were looking for conference win No.7 of the season as they look to win 10 conference games for the first time in over 15-years.

Leading the charge on Wednesday night was a pair of guards in junior Jose Alvarado and sophomore Michael Devoe. Tech fans have gotten use to the pair being top scorers for the Jackets at different points this season and Wednesday night served as one of the lucky instances that fans got to see both of them at their best on the court at the same time.

Michael Devoe led all scorers on Wednesday with 24-points and was effective from everywhere on the court. He shot 9-for-14 overall for the game but was 2-for-4 from beyond the arch and 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Add in his five rebounds and five assists and he had himself a pretty good night to say the least.

When it comes to his pal in the backcourt, Alvardo finished the game himself with 22-points, one rebound, and four assists. While he only shot 4-for-10 from the floor for the game, he was sent to the line on Wednesday night for 15 free throws and rarely missed a shot, he finished the game 13-for-15 at the line. Perhaps most impressive about Alvarado’s performance was that he was never taken off the court, playing all 40 minutes. It marks the 18th time in his career that he has played in 40 or minutes.

Overall, the backcourt duo of Alvarado and Devoe combined for 46 of the Jackets 86 points, over 50% of the Jackets total offense in the game.

Devoe and Alvarado will try to lead the Yellow Jackets to another victory on Saturday afternoon when they take on the Syracuse Orange at 4:00 p.m.. Fans can watch the game via ACC Network Extra or listen to it via WRECK 91.1 FM.
