The Georgia Tech athletic department on Wednesday announced schedule changes for the Yellow Jackets 2021 and 2023 schedules.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Georgia Tech athletic department and football program announced a pair of changes to future schedules. One of them is a small date change while the other is the addition of a new opponent.

The first change to note is the simple date change, the Yellow Jackets matchup against the Northern Illinois Huskies will now serve as their season opener in 2021 after originally being scheduled for the end of September. It will the be the first ever matchup between the two programs. Georgia Tech’s full schedule for 2021 is now complete as they will face Georgia, Kennesaw State, Northern Illinois, and Notre Dame in out of conference play.

In 2023, the Yellow Jackets will now welcome the Mid-American Conference’s (MAC) Bowling Green Falcons to The Flats on September 30th. The Yellow Jackets have only played the Falcons once in the past, that coming just two seasons ago when the Jackets defeated Bowling Green 63-17.

With the addition of Bowling Green to the roster, the Yellow Jackets have room for one more non-conference game in the 2023 season, most likely that of an FCS program. The Yellow Jackets currently have scheduled at Bowling Green, Georgia, and Ole Miss scheduled for that season. The only away game of the three already scheduled is that of Ole Miss.

The 2021 and 2023 seasons still are far away and first the Yellow Jackets must prepare for the 2020 season. The Jackets in the upcoming weeks will begin spring practices leading up to their spring game on Friday, April 10. The Jackets are expected to be much improved in 2020 but Geoff Collins program has plenty of work to do this spring and summer if they wish to make such improvements.
