The Georgia Tech baseball team fell to the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, dropping the 2020 COFH Series to the Bulldogs.

After starting the season off 7-1 this season, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have stumbled this weekend against the top-5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs. On Friday night, the Yellow Jackets fought valiantly in a great game between the two in-state rivals but fell 6-5 in Athens.

On Saturday, the Yellow Jackets fell to the Bulldogs 12-0 at home after an eight-run ninth inning put the game out of reach for the Jackets.. Right hander Cort Roedig got the start on Saturday and pitched decent in his 4.2 innings pitched, allowing four runs (two earned). He did allow seven hits and two walks but the talented sophomore did strike out eight.

The Jackets bullpen which has been led well by freshmen so far this season cracked on Saturday against the Bulldogs as Jackson Finley and Ben King both allowed four runs in their combined inning of work as UGA put up and eight spot in ninth inning.

The Jackets bats struggled throughout most of the afternoon, amassing just three hits in the game. Georgia starting pitcher Cole Wilcox dominated in his seven innings of work, striking out 11 Yellow Jackets. The only Yellow Jackets to pick up hits was Luke Waddell, Michael Gudlberg, and Jackson Webb.

The loss on Saturday afternoon drops the Yellow Jackets overall record to 7-3 on the season while it dropped Roedig’s record to 1-2. Roedig’s ERA, however, sits at a respectable 4.40. Roedig pitched well enough to keep the Yellow Jackets in the game on Saturday but simply had no support from the Jackets bats.

The Jackets will look to grab to end the series on a high note on Sunday afternoon at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville (Ga.) with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.. The Jackets will then to look rebound from the tough series with two mid-week games against Tennessee Tech and Georgia State.
