Georgia native and three-star defensive end Joshua Robinson committed to Geoff Collins and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Wednesday.

The Geogria Tech football program picked up commitment No.5 of the 2021 recruiting class on Wednesday when three-star defensive end Joshua Robinson committed to the Yellow Jackets. He announced his decision on Twitter.

Robinson, 6-foot-4, 235-pounds committed to the Jackets over 30 other scholarship offers, a strong indication of how wanted the Douglas County prospect truly is. Robinson is ranked by 247Sports composite rankings as the No.544 recruit nationally, the nation’s No.34 defensive end, and a top-50 prospect in the state of Georgia.

Other programs to offer Robinson included Arizona State, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Tennessee.

He is the second defensive end recruit of the class for the Jackets joining Alcoa, Tennessee native Grey Caroll, who committed to the Jackets back at the end of March.

Robinson joins wide receiver Malik Rutherford, the aforementioned defensive end Grey Carroll, athlete Jamal Haynes, and safety Shawn Chappell Jr as the commitments in the 2021 class. Robinson now becomes the headliner of the class with his overall rating and recruiting rankings.

With the commitment, the Jackets recruiting class is now ranked No.54 in the nation and 10th in the ACC. It has been a slow start to the cycle for the Jackets compared to the 2020 recruiting class but obviously there are unforeseen circumstances that have taken their toll on many programs.

The commitment of Robinson, though could be one that helps get the ball rolling again for the Jackets especially considering its a second commitment to the program in just over a week as Shawn Chappell committed to the program on April 28th.
