The Georgia Tech football program continues to roll on the recruiting trail as they picked up commitments No.12 and 13 of the 2021 recruiting class on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Georgia Tech Football’s hot streak on the recruiting trail continued on Wednesday morning when Westlake (Atlanta, Georgia) standout Leo Balckburn committed to the Yellow Jackets. It was the Jackets third commitment in just three days joining quarterback Chayden Peery and tight end Ben Postma. It also marks the Yellow Jackets 13th commitment overall in the recruiting class and moves them into the top-25 in the recruiting rankings per 247Sports, as they now sit at No.24 nationally and sixth in the ACC.

Blackburn, a composite three-star is ranked as a top-600 recruit nationally and a top-30 tight end per the composite rankings. While his profile does list him as a wide receiver, it appears he will be coming to Georgia Tech to play tight end considering his secondary recruiter was Georgia Tech tight ends coach Chris Wiesehan.

More from Yellow Jacked Up

Blackburn has nice height for a tight end at 6-foot-5 but will need to gain a bit more weight as he only weighs in right now around 215-pounds. He’ll need to add about another 25-pounds of weight to get to the ideal size for a tight end (240-250 pounds).

The Atlanta native received 26 reported offers during his recruitment so far according to 247Sports including offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Duke, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami,  Minnesota, Nebraska, and Ole Miss. A high-quality offer list to say the least for the three-star prospect.

Ben Postma:

We also apologize for not being able to get to the commitment of Ben Postma yesterday. Here’s a quick glance at Postma. Postma is a three-star tight end out of Cy Ranch in Cypress Texas with solid size for a tight end at 6-foot-4 and 225-pounds. He’s ranked nationally in the composite rankings just outside the top-1000  and is considered the country’s No.50 tight end.

Over his recruitment, Postma garnered 23 reported scholarship offers from a mixture of Power 5 and Group of 5 programs. Other notable offers that Postma received included Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Memphis, Minnesota, Oklahoma State, Pittsburgh, SMU, and UCF.

Postma is a quality pickup for the Yellow Jackets 2021 recruiting class and a look at his highlight video on HUDL shows a tight end who could have quite the upside once he hits the field on The Flats. With the Yellow Jackets obvious lack of depth at the tight end position, he’ll have the opportunity to show what he has on the field at some point in his career on The Flats and probably early on as well.

Overall:

Overall, the additions of Blackburn and Postma are two really nice pickups at the tight end position for the Jackets. The Jackets needed to take two tight ends in this class to help begin filling out depth at the position and these are two fine pickups to do that with.

In terms of the recruiting class, we are currently seeing the Yellow Jackets as one of the country’s hottest teams on the recruiting trail. The Yellow Jackets over the last three days have picked up some key targets in their recruiting class and have been on fire since the end of April. With all the uncertainty going around right now about next season and the added difficulties of recruiting under current circumstances, the Jackets coaching efforts are still impressive none the least here heading into June.
