On Monday, Georgia Tech had 15 freshmen from their 2020 recruiting class make it to campus as they begin their careers with the Georgia Tech football program.

Most of Georgia Tech’s 2020 recruiting class started their college careers on Monday as 14 Yellow Jackets officially moved onto The Flats. As part of their first day on campus, they received their jersey numbers for their first season with the program.

Bryce Gowdy: No.7

The first player up is obviously one that brings a bit of somber as it’s the late Bryce Gowdy. As you may know, Bryce tragically passed away this past December just weeks before he was set to enroll at Georgia Tech. Bryce will forever be a part of the Georgia Tech 2020 recruiting class and the No.7 will belong to Gowdy in his honor. It’s also worth noting that single-digit jerseys are worth a lot in the program and a hard to earn, making it an even bigger honor for Gowdy.

Miles Brooks: No.20

More from Yellow Jacked Up

A three-star cornerback out of Jacksonville, Florida, Brooks takes over the No.20 jersey last worn by Jair Hawkins-Anderson who left the program this offseason.

Jamhyr Gibbs: No.21

The four-star running back and crown jewel of the 2020 recruiting class, Gibbs will wear No.21. That jersey of course was also the jersey number of Calvin Johnson during his career on The Flats. DB Zamari Walton and WR Stephon Dolphus will also wear No.21 for the Yellow Jackets.

Tyson Meiguez: No.26

Three-star linebacker and Georgia native Tyson Meiquez will share the No.26 with walk-on wide receiver Josh Blancato.

Kyle Kennard: No.31

The Atlanta native drew the No.31 jersey, sharing it with redshirt sophomore walk-on Thompson Rudolph. It was also worn the last few years by Nate Cottrell who finished up the last of his eligibility last season.

Khatavian Franks: No.34

One of the most underrated prospects of the 2020 recruiting class, Franks will wear No.34 for the Yellow Jackets this upcoming season. Franks has the chance to be a huge playmaker for the Jackets down the road.

Jared Ivey: No.35

A defensive end prospect with extremely high potential, Ivey will be the only Yellow Jacket wearing No.35 this upcoming season for the Jackets. Last season, Jarrett Cole wore the number for the Yellow Jackets.

Khaya Wright: No.37

The Miami, Florida native will wear No.37 for the Yellow Jackets in 2020 and will be the only Jacket to wear the number No.37 this season. Last season, kicker Brenton king wore the number but since has moved on from the program and is now with Liberty.

Paula Vaipulu: No.60

The offensive lineman out of Texas will wear No.60, a jersey last worn by Brad Morgan during the 2018 season.

Wing Green: No.76

The three-star offensive lineman will wear No.76, alongside fellow offensive lineman Kevin Wolf.

Ryan King: No.84

The Grayson High School standout will wear No.84 and will be sharing the number with walk-on redshirt freshman tight end Chris Miller.

Billy Ward: No.85:

Ward, one of the true freshmen most likely to see early playing time in 2020 drew the No.85 jersey. He and walk-on defensive lineman Hinson Fowler will share the number.

Nate McCollum: No.88

The two-sport athlete will share the no.88 jersey with defensive lineman Josh Tukes. McCollum is one freshmen who could see quite a bit of playing time in 2020.

Avery Boyd: No.89

A native of the Tallahassee area, the Florida native will wear the No.89 jersey sharing it with defensive lineman Antwan Owens. The number was also famously the number of Tech legend Lucius Sanford.

Emmanuel Johnson No.91

The South Carolina native will wear No.91 for the Yellow Jackets, which was worn by Kelton Dawson for the last few seasons. Dawson finished up his career on The Flats last season.

The freshmen will now join the rest of the Yellow Jackets in the weight room as they build towards their season opener against Clemson which is currently scheduled for September 3rd.
