With 46 days remaining until Georgia Tech Football’s scheduled first game of the season against Clemson on September 3rd, we spotlight Yellow Jackets long snapper Henry Freer.

It’s not often that long snappers at any level of football get recognition, but today that changes because in today’s Georgia Tech football countdown to kickoff, we are doing that. The only player on the Yellow Jackets roster wearing the No.46 jersey in 2020 is long snapper Henry Freer.

Freer is a freshman walk-on for the Yellow Jackets in 2020 and played his high school ball at Woodward Academy in Atlanta and is a native of College Park, Georgia.  Coming out of high-school, Freer was a four-star long snapping prospect per Rubio Long Snapping.

Freer is one of three long snappers on the Yellow Jackets roster joining redshirt junior Jack Coco and redshirt sophomore Cade Long. Both of them appeared in games last season, Coco in nine games while Cade Long appeared in 12 games. Long also recorded two tackles on the season.

Freer in 2020 will likely provide depth for the Yellow Jackets and probably won’t end up appearing in any games. By the time he is a junior or senior, Freer could find himself as the Yellow Jackets starting long snapper but for now he must patiently wait. That being said, long snappers don’t get enough love and recognition and we’re happy that we can provide a player like Freer some recognition even if it’s for just one day.

Only 46 days remaining until toe meets leather at Bobby Dodd Stadium!
