The countdown to Georgia Tech Football’s 2020 season continues on this Thursday and in our player spotlight today is the Yellow Jackets’s lone No.42 on their roster, redshirt sophomore Jordan Domineck.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound defensive lineman out of Lakeland, Florida and George Jenkins High School was a three-star prospect in the 2018 recruiting class for the Yellow Jackets.

According to 247Sports, Jenkins ranked in the top-1300 nationally and was among the top-200 prospects in the state of Florida during that cycle. Domineck ultimately ended up picking the Yellow Jackets over 20 other programs which included the likes of Iowa State, Syracuse, UCF, Vanderbilt, and Louisville.

Domineck as a true freshman in 2018 only appeared in three games for the Yellow Jackets, preserving his redshirt eligibility and taking a redshirt in 2018. Last season, as a redshirt freshman, the Florida native played in seven games for the Yellow Jackets and recorded 25-tackles which included 3.5 tackles for a loss.

In 2020, Domineck barring injury should be a regular for the Jackets on their defensive line and will see more playing time. During his time on the field in 2019, he showed a lot of flashes of things to come and what he could possibly do over a full season. During the Jackets final home game of the season against NC State, the then redshirt freshman had his best game on The Flats, recording 10 tackles including 1.5 sacks. For his performance against the Wolfpack, the Florida native earned ACC Player of the Week honors. All in all, Domineck is a player who could be in for a huge 2020 season.

Only 42 days until there’s some glorious college football happening at Bobby Dodd Stadium!
