No.3: The Trenches

Another place that the Yellow Jackets will need to see vast improvements in 2020 is in the trenches. The best programs in the country are built upon their success on both sides of the line of scrimmage. In 2019, both sides struggled for the Yellow Jackets. The offensive line struggled in both pass and run blocking while the defensive line struggled in causing any sort of chaos during most games.

The offensive line saw the addition of two transfers this offseason in Vanderbilt transfer Devin Cochran and Tennessee transfer Ryan Johnson. Both should slide into the starting lineup for the Yellow Jackets but will the lack of a true offseason ultimately hurt their assimilation into the program and their performance on the field? They’ll have just over a month (as of now) to help develop any sort of chemistry with the remainder of the offensive line and the the Jackets quarterbacks.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Jackets will have the addition of former five-star defensive end and Florida Gator, Anntoneous Clayton. Clayton has been with the program since last season but did not receive eligibility for the 2019 season, now in his redshirt senior season, he’ll look to be an impact player on the defensive line for the Yellow Jackets. Something that the Jackets have lacked for quite some time now.
