Now that we know when Georgia Tech’s 2020 season is set to start on September 12th against the Florida State we can start back up our countdown to kickoff with just 36 days remaining.
The first Georgia Tech football player up in our starting back up of the countdown to kickoff series is Yellow Jackets redshirt senior tight end Joseph Macrina.
Macrina, a native of Johns Creek (GA) just outside Atlanta is entering his final year on The Flats with his best opportunity to make an impact with the Yellow Jackets. Through his first four years on campus, Macrina has only seen time in four games during his career, all of them coming in 2018 as a running back for the Yellow Jackets.
Once current head coach Geoff Collins and his coaching staff came into town to take over the program, Macrina made the move to the tight end position. Last year, his first year at the position, he did not appear in any games as he served as a depth tight end for the Jackets.
Entering this year, Macrina isn’t in line to have a ton of playing time but chances are he’ll at least some playing time as the Jackets will look to find the right fit at the position now that Tyler Davis has graduated and gone off to the NFL. Currently in line to potentially start for the Jackets is sophomore Dylan Deveney, who spent last year as Davis’s primary backup.
Only 36 days until Georgia Tech football returns (hopefully!).
