The Georgia Tech football program picked up commitment No.18 if the 2021 recruiting class on Monday afternoon in three-star offensive guard Weston Franklin.
Georgia Tech picked up one of their biggest commitments so far in the 2021 recruiting class on Monday afternoon. Three-star recruit and top-500 player nationally, Weston Franklin announced his decision to be a Yellow Jacket on Twitter.
The Wayne County (Jessup, GA) standout is now the Jackets second best recruit in the 2021 recruiting class per 247Sports. The only higher rated recruit in the class is four-star wide receiver James Blackstrain out of Florida. The commitment which has been expected since Franklin announced his commitment date is a major pick up for the Jackets as they look to build their depth in the trenches.

Franklin had 15 reported scholarship offers prior to his commitment including offer from Arizona, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Michigan, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.
In the 2021 recruiting class, the Jackets have two other offensive lineman currently committed that being Atlanta native and Westlake standout Jakiah Leftwich as well as Mississippi offensive guard Eli Richey.
As a prospect, Franklin is the type of an offensive lineman that has incredibly high upside and that’s without being coached by one of the country’s best offensive line coaches in Brent Key. Franklin already has great size at 6-foot-4 and 308-pounds. 247Sports composite rankings rank Franklin as the 439th best player in the nation and a top-30 offensive guard.
With the commitment from Franklin, the Jackets 2021 recruiting class ranks 34th in the country by 247Sports and ninth in the ACC. Their 2020 recruiting class finished 27th in the country and fifth in the conference.
