Georgia Tech Football: Jackets up as 8.5-point underdogs to UCF
The Georgia Tech football team is entering their home opener this weekend as an 8.5-point underdog to the UCF Knights.
Despite walking out of Tallahassee on Saturday evening with a 16-13 victory over the Florida State Seminoles, the Georgia Tech football program isn’t getting a ton of love out of the Vegas oddsmakers.
Per Action Network, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have started this week as 8.5-point underdogs to the AAC’s UCF Knights, the nation’s No.13 team entering week three of the college football team (Note: The Big 10 and Pac 12 will not have any representation until their leagues return).
The Yellow Jackets this past weekend opened as double-digit underdogs to the Florida State Seminoles before the line moved to -12.5 in favor of the Seminoles by kickoff. That didn’t stop the Jackets, however, from upsetting the Seminoles 16-13 while also leaving quite a bit of points on the board.
The Jackets in their game against UCF will be looking to start 2-0 on the season for the first time since 2016 when they started their season 3-0. They’ll also be looking for their first win over a top-25 opponent since 2017 when they defeated Virginia Tech 28-22. Since that game, the Jackets have been 0-5 against ranked opponents, that being said, four of those five games have come against the likes of Clemson and Georgia.
The total for Saturday’s matchup between the Jackets and Knights is currently set at 60.5-points. Last season, only three of the Jackets nine games had totals over 60-points.
Georgia Tech will kickoff their home opener on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST. The game will be nationally televised on ABC, the second-straight week that the Yellow Jackets will be in the 3:30 p.m. timeslot and ABC’s mid-afternoon game.
