Two Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets earned recognition from the ACC on Monday for their efforts in a 16-13 win over Florida State on Saturday afternoon.

Georgia Tech came out of the weekend with a lot of good things. The win against FSU was one to remember. Adding to the list, their defensive end, Curtis Ryans earned some more spotlight. Ryans earned ACC Defensive Lineman of the week.

Curtis had four tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks, and two forced fumbles. Curtis has been recognized by his coaches after adding 40-pounds to his frame and putting in a tremendous effort on and off the field.

The second reason Tech fans should celebrate is true freshman quarterback Jeff Sims. The conference recognized Sims as the rookie of the week.

Sims had 341 yards of total offense and was 24 for 35 passing. Sims was recently committed to FSU until their new coach came in. He changed to Tech and that made this past weekends win that much sweeter. Sims attended Sandalwood high school in Jacksonville, Florida, and showed great promise as a quarterback.

To add insult to injury for Florida State, Sims was originally committed to the Seminoles and was told by Mike Norvell following his hiring that he would not fit into their system. Sims would later commit and sign with the Yellow Jackets, and now the rest is history. But with stats like he posted against Florida State and a big win under their belt, Georgia Tech fans have a lot to be excited about. There is also a lot of work to do moving forward- but at least now, the future is bright.
