Since it’s a bye week, we have the ability to drag out our recaps for this past weekends 37-20 loss to Syracuse. Today, we name our players of the game.

Offense: RB Jahmyr Gibbs

For the second straight week, Gibbs earns our offensive player of the week nod. The true freshman running back out of Dalton, put up his first career 100+ yard rushing performance rushing for 105-yards on 18 carries while also picking up 26 receiving yards on two receptions. Overall, he had 131 total yards on 20 touches offensively and a touchdown. That doesn’t include his 44 return yards on kickoffs. That would have him 175 all purpose yards against the Orange. Through two career games, Gibbs now has 394 all purpose yards and two touchdowns. Simply outstanding.

Defense: DE Jordan Domineck

Picking a defensive standout for the game was pretty hard to be honest as it was a dismal defensive effort. We debated the likes of Juanyeh Thomas and David Curry but ultimately ended on Jordan Domineck who didn’t put up a ton of numbers in the no score but did make an impact when he did. Overall, the sophomore posted four tackles against the Orange including one sack and two tackles of a loss. He now has 10 total tackles this season including eight solo and one sack.

Special Teams: P Presley Harvin III

Harvin III once again was outstanding for the Jackets against Syracuse. In the game, he had seven punts for an average of 49.3 yards per punt, one week after averaging 51.3 yards per punt against UCF. For the season, Harvin has punted the ball 14 times and has averaged 48.2 yards per punt which ranks fourth in the country.
