Georgia Tech vs Louisville: Report Card
Defensive Position Groups: By Shelby Williams
Defensive Line: A
The defensive line looked pretty good to me. Jordan Dominick had six total tackles with two solo and four assists. In the second half gets a turnover and a forced fumble and it was recovered. Djmon Brooks saw two assisted tackles as well. They certainly looked a lot better than their performance against Syracuse. https://yellowjackedup.com/2020/10/01/grading-the-defense-georgia-tech-vs-syracuse/
Linebacker: B+
Quez Jackson had 9 total tackles. Four solo and five assists and he leads the tackles for the team for the season. He also had one fumble recovery.
Linebacker David curry had seven total tackles five assists and two totals. Coach Geoff Collins mentioned he got player of the game along with a few others. Getting this kind of momentum this early on in the season is something to get excited about. Let’s trust these guys can continue on with the hype.
Secondary: A
Juanye Thomas had six total tackles four solo and two assists. Charlie Thomas had a turnover by striping the ball and gave tech possession after their kick to the Cardinals. That immediate revoking of the Cardinals ball was much needed. Wesley Walker had seven total tackles, five solo and two assists. These guys were also key factors for securing the win.
Punting: B
Pressley Harvin punted five punts for 239 yards. We can always count on our fan favorite to be there when we need him.
Overall: A-
Overall, the performance was pretty good. If we didn’t have a good defensive performance, The game would have went a lot differently. We needed those turnovers and fumbles to win. Since so much was riding on our defense for this particular game, they get an A- for getting the job done. Louisville was “known” for their offense and our guys put that ideology to rest. Tech is now ranked fifth in the ACC, with a self-realization game on the way against Clemson. Buckle your seat belts because this next game will be a wild ride.
