Georgia Tech on Saturday suffered one of their worst losses in program history, being routed by Clemson 73-7.

We will be honest, score wise, it probably can’t get any uglier for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Jackets offense never got the ball rolling really and defensively, after an early forced turnover, the defense was obliterated by the country’s best team.

That being said, there are still some positive takeaways from the 73-7 loss. Though there are plenty of negatives, we all know those, however so let’s look at the positives for this one.

1. For the most part Jahmyr Gibbs was solid

The brightest spot on Georgia Tech’s offense remains true freshman running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Against the Tigers, Gibbs ran the ball 15 times for 67-yards. He was able to be quite evasive at times as well and broke plenty of tackles throughout the game. It wasn’t a big game by any means for Gibbs but in a day that the entire offense struggled, he was quite solid especially when you add in his three receptions for 23-yards.

2. Pressley Harvin III might be the best punter in the country

I’m not gong to act like a punting expert but at this point it’s fair to say that Pressley Harvin III or PH3 as he’s affectionately known is one of the country’s best punters if not the best punter. Against Clemson, he remained tremendous with nine punts for 435 yards, an average of 48.3 and included a long of 56. He’s averaging 48.2 yards per punt this season and will have an opportunity to punt on Sundays next season.

3. Okay, there’s only two positives really…

That being said, the good news coming out of Saturday’s game is that the Jackets will not fade another team like the Tigers the remainder of the season. I truly think if the Jackets play their A-game they can beat everyone on their schedule. Now, that’s not going to happen but there’s no game on the Jackets schedule that I don’t think they stand a chance in as of right now. The Clemson game, they truly never stood a chance. Additionally, while the Jackets did lose 73-7, it could’ve been truly worse for the Jackets and finally, despite the blowout that was evident midway through the first quarter, the Jackets never stopped fighting and you have to love that if you’re Geoff Collins or a Georgia Tech fan. A loss is a loss, watch the tape, fix the mistakes, bury the tape, and forget about it. The Jackets won’t have time to pout about this loss, they have a tough Boston College team coming up this weekend.
