Georgia Tech Football: Jackets Open as 18-Point Underdogs to Notre Dame

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have opened as 18-point underdogs to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for next week’s battle at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

As Georgia Tech is looking to bounce back from a second-straight loss, this one coming at the hands of Boston College, 48-27 in Chestnut Hill, the Yellow Jackets have opened as 18-point underdogs to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this upcoming week.

The Fighting Irish are sitting at No.4 in the country coming into next weekend’s battle after a 45-3 victory on the road over Pittsburgh This past weekend. The Irish are 5-0 overall on the season but have yet to be challenged by a strong this team this season.

Their biggest test thus far has been Louisville, who they beat 12-7. The Yellow Jackets defeated Louisville themselves 46-27. Against the spread, the Yellow Jackets are 2-4 matching their own record while the Fighting Irish are 2-3 against the spread.

For the Yellow Jackets, it will mark the sixth time this season that they are underdogs. The only game this year they were a favorite in was against Syracuse, which resulted in a 37-20 blowout loss for the Yellow Jackets.

The matchup between the Yellow Jackets and Fighting Irish will be the first game between the two since 2015 when the Yellow Jackets fell to Notre Dame 30-22. The Yellow Jackets lat victory against the Irish came in 2007, 33-3 in South Bend. All-time, the Irish hold a 28-6-1 record against the Yellow Jackets.

Kickoff for next Saturday’s game is set for 3:30 p.m. with the game televised nationally on ABC. The Yellow Jackets will be looking for their first victory over a top-10 opponent since beating Florida State back in 2015 in the game that is now famously known as the “Miracle on Techwood Drive”.
