The Georgia Tech football program on Tuesday got a nice addition to the defensive line in the form of Old Dominion transfer, defensive end Keion White.
A day after seeing two players enter the transfer portal including defensive end Chico Bennett Jr, the Georgia Tech football program added a new defensive end to the roster.
The junior defensive end Keion White announced his intentions to join the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday. White will have two years of eligibility to play with the Yellow Jackets.
White and Old Dominion didn’t play this year due to COVID but the Garner, North Carolina native had a great sophomore season in 2019 for the Monarchs that earned him second team All-Conference USA honors. In that first year as a defensive end after moving over from tight end, White thrived recording 62 tackles including 19 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks. He also forced a fumble, recovered a pair and had an interception on the season.
White will join a Georgia Tech defensive line that took a step forward in 2020 but still struggled to get consistent pressure into the backfield. The Jackets leading returning man in terms of tackles for a loss is Jordan Domineck who had 8.5 on the season. White was a well sought out transfer with plenty of interest from Power 5 programs, so landing White is quite the recruiting victory for the Yellow Jackets.
White should step right into a contributing role for the Yellow Jackets in 2020 and most likely a starting role. He’s another example of the Yellow Jackets strong desire to go into the transfer portal to better their roster as Geoff Collins continues to build his program including four other transfers this year.
