Georgia Tech wide receiver Jalen Camp will not be returning for another season on The Flats and instead will be looking towards his dreams of playing in the NFL.

Georgia Tech redshirt senior wide receiver Jalen Camp announced via Twitter on Thursday night that his time on The Flats has come to an end. The Cumming, GA native had the opportunity in 2021 to return to the Yellow Jackets for a sixth and final season but has decided the best course of action for him is to move on and chase his dreams in the NFL.

Camp during his Georgia Tech career was a fan favorite and a player that fans were always hoping was on a verge of a breakout. After looking impressive in camp as a true freshman, under then-head coach Paul Johnson, Camp wasn’t utilized a ton in the triple-option offense under Johnson but there was new hope once Geoff Collins came to The Flats. Unfortunately for Camp, his season in 2019 was cut short after just five games due to an injury just after he started to look really good.

The breakout season, however, finally came in 2020, however, if you want to call it that. As Camp posted his best season as a Jacket, leading the Jackets in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. Appearing in all 10 games for the Jackets, Camp brought in 27 receptions for 417-yards and four touchdowns. He finishes his Tech career overall, recording 46 receptions for 786-yards and five touchdowns.

In terms of his NFL Draft prospects, Camp’s chances may ultimately come down to how he tests at either the NFL Combine or a regional combine. Camp has nice size that should translate well to the NFL and he’s quite a strong wide receiver as well which will be a plus for him as well. Add in his skill set that includes a good catch radius, quality hands, and good blocking skills thanks to the triple-option offense and Camp has a good base to work with as he looks to be drafted this upcoming spring.

Camp is the second wide receiver to announce his departure from the program this offseason, joining Ahmarean Brown who announced he is transferring last Friday.
