Georgia Tech Basketball: Jose Alvarado Earns ACC POW Honors
Georgia Tech men’s basketball senior guard Jose Alvarado earned ACC Player of the Week honors last week for his dominating efforts against North Carolina and Wake Forest.
Georgia Tech men’s basketball saw a second player be awarded ACC Player of the Week honors on Monday as senior guard Jose Alvarado was named the ACC’s top player for last week.
Alvarado earned the honors after posting back-to-back 20+ point performances against North Carolina and Wake Forest. Against the Tar Heels, Alvarado posted 20-points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in the Jackets 72-67 victory over the Tar Heels while shooting 80% from the floor in the game.

He followed that game up with 25-points against Wake Forest on Sunday, going 9-for-14 from the field, he also brought down four rebounds and dished out a pair of assists. The senior out of Brooklyn, New York has been dynamite for the Jackets of late, with three-straight 20+ point performances and four in his last six games. On the season, he’s averaging 18.1 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists.
Alvardo joins Moses Wright as Jackets to earn Player of the Week honors this season, Wright earned his honor during the second week of the season. After getting off to a blazing start, Wright has cooled down the last two games, picking up just eight points in each contest. That being said, he’s still averaging 17.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
The Yellow Jackets will return to the court on Wednesday night against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish looking for their fifth-straight victory and third ACC win of the season.
