Despite entering the ACC Tournament as the No.4 seed with a double-bye to their advantage, oddsmakers do not seem to be confident in the Georgia Tech men’s basketball team. The Jackets enter the tournament with a 15-8 record overall including 11-6 in conference play.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Yellow Jackets odds to win this year’s ACC Tournament are sixth best at +1000. Meaning a $10 bet would net $100 in winnings.

Above the Yellow Jackets are Florida State (+230), Virginia (+310), North Carolina (+450), Louisville (+650), and Virginia Tech (+650). The Yellow Jackets this season went a combined 3-4 against those programs, which isn’t great but does make the Jackets an interesting team to consider in this tournament. History, is against the Yellow Jackets, however, as the program has only claimed four conference tournament titles and the last one came 28-years ago in 1993.

On the flip side, the Yellow Jackets enter the ACC Tournament as one of the hottest teams in the country, winners of six-straight. That will make the Jackets a popular pick in the tournament. Another attribute making them a potential popular pick could be their experience as their a heavily experienced team led by nearly only seniors and juniors. Having the ACC Player of the Year in Moses Wright and ACC Defender of the Year Jose Alvarado will also add to their value on paper to the outside better.

Overall, the Jackets certainly have the talent and ability to win the ACC Tournament but it won’t be easy either especially if chalk plays out and they have to face a schedule of No.5 Clemson, No.1 Virginia, and No.2 Florida State.

If the Jackets are going to win the tournament, they’ll start their journey on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.. In that game, they’ll take on the winner of  No.5 Clemson vs the winner of Tuesday afternoon’s matchup between No.12 Pitt and No.13 Miami.
