The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets continue their hot start to 2022 now moving to 8-1 on the year with their next two games against rival Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia Tech has now moved to an 8-1 record in their first nine games this season and does not show any signs of stopping. In the latest D1Baseball Top 25 rankings, they have Georgia Tech coming in at No. 18 this week.

The new ranking for Georgia Tech is a single rank higher than where they were previously ranked (No. 19). This Georgia Tech team has shown a lot of promise this year in these first nine games of the year and looks solid. With an elite offense led by the last week’s player of the week Kevin Parada.

But, besides Parada, the rest of the team is really solid on offense. So far this season the run differential for Georgia Tech is +50. If you don’t know what that means it’s really simple, it means in total this year, Georgia Tech has scored 50 more runs than their opponents this season. This is extremely good and is a great example to show how elite their offensive production is.

If Georgia Tech is having such a great season, why are they not ranked higher in the Top 25?

Now I for one think Georgia Tech should be placed higher. But the reason they are not is fairly solid. It is because they have not played any top-tier elite teams so far. This is fine, it gets you in the swing of things and prepares you to get ready to play top-end talent. But if I were to guess that would be the reason as to why they only moved one spot in the rankings this week.

That being said, their next three games are against the No. 15 ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Not only is this going to be a very important and telling three-game stretch for both teams, it means a lot more for Georgia Tech. Especially because they have one of the top hitters in the sport, but it is also their first competition against a ranked opponent and rival, nonetheless.

So as Georgia Tech enters these next three games it is going to be extremely exciting to see if Georgia Tech can maintain this hot streak and if they do, what it could do for them in next week’s rankings and morale for the team. But until then let’s enjoy the success we have witnessed and just hope that it can continue.
