Georgia Tech Basketball: Yellow Jackets fall short to Clemson
By Gavin Kozlo
Coming off a tough loss to Notre Dame, Georgia Tech went into Clemson hoping to bounce back strong on the road, but that was sadly not the case.
After a pitiful game against Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and their fans wanted to go into Clemson and win and put that game behind them with the regular season winding down. But sadly, that was not the case.
Georgia Tech head coach John Paster decided to switch up the line-up a bit to hopefully see some kind of positive adjustment in his team in one of the last games of the season. Inserting freshman, Deebo Coleman into the starting five instead of senior, Khalid Moore. This was the fourth start of the season for the Georgia Tech freshman.
This game was winnable from the very beginning for Georgia Tech. It was not like Clemson is a top school in college they are also a struggling team this year and it would have been nice to see someone on the Yellow Jackets step up and be the reason they could have won.
If you watched the game, you would have seen that Georgia Tech does not have that impact player that you need to win close games like this. All the guys who get a lot of minutes needed to step up offensively and that was just not the case.
A key example of this would be the player I have already mentioned, Deebo Coleman. In 35-minutes on the floor, Deebo only had eight points, one assist, and two rebounds. Now I understand that he is only a freshman and the veteran players around him also need to step up. But when you are playing almost a full 40-minutes it should be expected you perform better than that.
So now, with only one game left in the season, Georgia Tech has their last opportunity to win before the regular season comes to an end. This Saturday, March 5th, Boston college plays Georgia Tech at home and fans are hoping they can pull out a win against another program that is currently struggling.
Beating Boston College to close out the regular season would be a great way to give your players and staff a nice little confidence boost to end the regular season. So, though this season has not been pretty. There is still one more chance.
