Georgia Tech is set to take on Louisville in round one of the ACC tournament. Do the Yellow Jackets have what it takes to advance?
On Tuesday, March 8th, Georgia Tech is set to play Louisville in round one of the ACC tournament. Georgia Tech enters the tournament as the number 14-seed while Louisville comes in as the 11-seed. After a disappointing year for Georgia Tech, do they have what it takes to beat the Cardinals?
The last time these two teams matched up was back in January. It was January 2nd, and the Cardinals beat Georgia Tech in a close game. The final score was 67-64. But since then, both teams have ultimately had their struggles. After that win, the Cardinals had an overall record of 9-4 but ended the year with a record of 12-18. Meaning they only won three games from January 2nd until March 5th.
Of course, though that does not mean really anything for Georgia Tech, they have also had their fair share of issues in the 2021-22 season. All it means is that this game is a very winnable game for the Yellow Jackets.
Georgia Tech closed out their regular season in a good way, beating Boston College and heading into the tournament with a little bit of a confidence boost. So, in a way, they do kind of have an advantage there. They are coming off a victory that they have long waited for especially after suffering a brutal loss to Notre Dame earlier that week, I expect to see a more confident group of guys on the court on March 8th.
On the other hand, you could say that Louisville is going to be playing a lot harder because they have more of a chip on their shoulder to win rather than being in Georgia Tech’s position of just having the extra confidence boost.
Though both teams struggled in the 2021-22 season all that matters is that they are both going to play at their absolute top level, and I believe we will see a very entertaining game win or lose for the Yellow Jackets.
Now do I want them to win? Absolutely, but with all the inconsistencies I have seen from this team it is very difficult to gauge how they will play against Louisville.
