After Syracuse jumped out to an early 3–0 lead in the first quarter, the Yellow Jackets answered with 20 straight points.

Georgia Tech has struggled to start fast in some games this season, including last week at Duke, but not this time. Against Syracuse, the Jackets went into halftime with a 20–3 lead and plenty of momentum.

Coming in as a 16.5-point favorite, Tech had a chance to move to 8–0. The first half wasn’t flawless on offense. There were a few mistakes, but taking a 17-point lead into the break was a strong sign of progress.

Quarterback Haynes King was sharp early. He completed 18 of 23 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns. King also added six carries for 59 yards on the ground. Tight end Josh Bentham caught both touchdown passes — his only two receptions of the half — for 34 total yards that both made an impact.

The second half now gives Georgia Tech a chance to finish the job, complete the blowout, and move to 8–0 in style.
