Georgia Tech hosts Pittsburgh with ACC championship berth on the line

The 16th-ranked, 9–1 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets host the 7–3 Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday night on ESPN, with a spot in the ACC Championship Game up for grabs.

For Georgia Tech, everything is still in front of them. Their defensive struggles over the last two weeks are in the past—tonight is about the task at hand. A win sends the Yellow Jackets to Charlotte and keeps their playoff hopes alive.

It’s been a season full of buzz on The Flats. Haynes King and the offense have powered Georgia Tech to one of its best starts in decades, and now they have a chance to make the excitement even louder under the lights at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Pittsburgh arrives looking to spoil Georgia Tech’s magical run, especially after getting blasted by Notre Dame last weekend. The Panthers have nothing to lose and would love to derail Tech’s ACC title hopes. The Panthers are also playing to keep their ACC season alive. Although they have three losses on the season, they only have one conference loss.

For Brent Key, the question isn’t about the offense, they’ve shown they can score on anyone. The focus is squarely on a defense that’s been embarrassed in back-to-back games. In his final media availability of the week, Key took full responsibility for the recent issues, saying:

“It’s me. It’s all me. Take it, need it right. It’s a combination of everything. There are a lot of things that we didn’t do right.”

With everything at stake, it’s hard to imagine Georgia Tech coming out flat tonight. The opportunity is too big, the moment too important.
