The ACC title race just got a whole lot more interesting.

Friday Night ACC

On Friday night, No. 2 Miami suffered its first loss of the season. Falling at home to Louisville. The 24–21. The setback dropped the Hurricanes to 5–1 overall and 1–1 in conference play. Louisville improved to 5–1 and jumped Miami in the ACC standings.

The No. 12 Yellow Jackets enter today’s matchup against Duke as one of just three unbeaten teams in ACC play. Joining Virginia and the Blue Devils at 3–0. Georgia Tech is also the league’s only undefeated team overall at 6–0.

Elsewhere in the ACC, Bill Belichick’s North Carolina squad took another tough hit Friday night. The Tar Heels dropped a close one on the road at Cal after a costly late fumble by wide receiver Nathan Leacock with under four minutes left. The loss likely knocks UNC out of the conference title picture.

That makes today’s Georgia Tech Duke clash even more important. A win would move the Yellow Jackets to 7–0 and give them full control of the ACC race heading into late October.

With Haynes King leading one of the nation’s most balanced offenses and Brent Key’s defense hitting its stride, Georgia Tech suddenly has a clear path to Charlotte — and maybe more.

Today’s game isn’t just big. It is huge to stay atop the AC standings. The action kicks off at noon eastern. As Brent Key and team play in Durham, vs Duke. While Virginia hosts Washington State at 6:30pm.
