Riding its best start in 59 years and its highest national ranking in 16 years, No. 7 Georgia Tech (7-0, 4-0 ACC) returns home to face Syracuse for Homecoming at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field.
With last Saturday’s 27-18 win over Duke, Georgia Tech improved to 7-0 for the first time since 1966. It is only the eighth time in the school’s 133 seasons that the Jackets have opened a season this strong. The other years were 1917, 1928, 1942, 1947, 1952, 1964, and 1966.
The Yellow Jackets jumped to No. 7 in both the Associated Press and US LBM Coaches Polls this week. That’s their highest ranking since finishing No. 7 in the 2014 coaches poll, and their best in-season ranking since they spent three weeks at No. 7 in 2009. Tech is also 4-0 in ACC play for the first time since 1998.

This is the first time in series history that Georgia Tech and Syracuse have met three straight years. The Jackets beat the Orange 31-22 the last time Syracuse visited Atlanta in 2023 but lost a close 31-28 matchup last year in Syracuse.
With college football buzzing about coaching changes, Brent Key’s name often comes up in national discussions. But for now, Coach Key is focused on Georgia Tech’s magical season. His attention—and his team’s—is on today’s Homecoming matchup against Fran Brown and the Orange.
The excitement around Georgia Tech football is growing fast. According to the team’s website, attendance at Bobby Dodd Stadium is up 24 percent. The program’s success has energized the fan base and filled the stands week after week.
The Yellow Jackets enter today’s game as 16.5-point favorites. While some fans may focus on that number, Brent Key, Haynes King, and the rest of the team are focused on just one—eight. A win today would move Georgia Tech to 8-0 and keep their dream season rolling.
