Georgia Tech has a big time, four-star, in-state recruit on campus on Sunday for “Legends of the Flats Day”.

Georgia Tech’s “Legends of the Flats Day” was held on Sunday afternoon and the Yellow Jackets expected not just a big contingent of alumni but a quality contingent of recruits to be on The Flats for the spring practice session. Among those making their way to campus to see Geoff Collin’s squad was 2020 four-star, in-state linebacker Romello Heights.

Heights, a composite three-star recruit but viewed by 247Sports’s own rankings as a four-star recruit is a native of Dublin, Georgia. At 6-foot-5 and 210-pounds, Heights has tremendous size and that size that could very easily see him make the move to defensive end at the next level.

He’s ranked in 247Sports’s composite rankings as a top-500 player nationally, a top-40 outside linebacker, and a top-50 player in the Peach State. 247Sports for comparison has him ranked in their top-325 players nationally, top-30 outside linebackers, and top-30 players in the state of Georgia. Quite a bit of a range between the industry’s thoughts on the Dublin native and 247Sports’ thoughts on him.

Heights was only recently offered by the Yellow Jackets, receiving his offer from Geoff Collin’s coaching staff on March 14th. If the Jackets hope to make a play in his recruitment, getting him on campus was very important.

So far in his recruitment, Romello has gained 25 scholarship offers according to his 247Sports profile. Amongst his offers are Arizona State, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Missouri, and USC. Currently, there appears to be no overall favorite for Romello but the Jackets certainly will have a good amount of competition in landing the in-state linebacker.

The Jackets are expected to lose at least two scholarship linebackers after the 2019 season, meaning the Jackets should be looking to take at least two, if not three linebackers in the 2020 recruiting class.

The Jackets currently hold four commitments in their 2020 recruiting class, headlined by four-star cornerback Miles Brooks. They also hold commitments from a trio of three-stars in WR Ryan King, QB Tanner Gleason, and TE Billy Ward. The class is ranked 26th in the country and 6th in the ACC.
