No. 1: Georgia Tech vs Florida State – 2015

2015 was a difficult season all around for the Yellow Jackets, but the one silver lining in the otherwise dismal campaign was a spoiler over undefeated No. 6 Florida State.

Georgia Tech had lost five consecutive games coming into the matchup with the Seminoles and had only two wins on the season. Nobody expected much from the Jackets, but Tech’s defense had other plans.

Florida State had been up 16-10 at the half, but the Yellow Jackets didn’t allow a single point to the Seminoles in the third or fourth quarters. On the other side of the ball, Justin Thomas and Harrison Butker led the offense with a dozen points and a kick tied it up at 16-16 late in the fourth.

Florida State got the ball back with less than a minute in the game and drove to within field goal range for their sure-footed kicker Robert Aguayo, but the attempt was blocked and returned 78 yards by Lance Austin as the clock expired.

Does the 2017 Georgia Tech season hold any magical endings that may make this particular list outdated? That remains to be seen, but anything is possible at ole Grand Field.
