Georgia Tech Football: Dedrick Mills named to All-ACC preseason team

Rising sophomore Dedrick Mills has been named to the All-ACC preseason team by the ACC media.

Dedrick Mills meteoric rise to stardom is continuing as the rising sophomore has been named to the All-ACC preseason team. Earlier this week, he was named to the Maxwell Award watch list.The Waycross, Georgia native had a phenomenal freshman season last year, rushing for 771-yards and 12-touchdowns on 152-carries.

With all that being said including Mills inclusion on the All-ACC preseason team, the expectations for Mills are sky high entering his sophomore season. The Yellow Jackets haven’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2010 and Mills look to be in prime position to become the first Jacket to do so.

With a brand new starting quarterback, Mills role in the Yellow Jackets offense should be pretty big and he should see a huge bulk of the work load early on. For Mills, a strong season will give him the chance to break out onto the national stage as one of the nation’s best running backs.

Mills was the only Yellow Jacket named to the All-ACC preseason team though 16 other Jackets received votes for different positions. Here is the full All-ACC Preseason team as voted by the ACC media.

The defending national champion Clemson Tigers lead all ACC teams with four selections headlined by defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins. ACC favorites and potential National Championship contender Florida State had three headlined by one of the best players in the nation, if not the best, in safety Derwin James.
