Georgia Tech Football Recruiting: Top target to be on campus Friday
One of Georgia Tech football’s top recruiting targets left in the 2018 recruiting will be on campus Friday.
Thursday was an eventful day for the 2018 recruiting class on The Flats. Early Thursday afternoon, the Jackets received a commitment from cornerback Jaylon King. A few hours later they added a commitment from offensive guard Mike Maye.
On Friday, the Jackets coaching staff will be pushing for a commitment from one of their top targets in the 2018 recruiting class. Juanyeh Thomas may not have the scouting accolades like some, but what the Niceville, Florida native does have is the attention of the Tech coaching staff.
Thomas has stated throughout his recruitment that the Jackets have been a school that has really pushed hard for him. Friday should be no different for the 6-foot-2 corner. Last week, it was discussed how the Jackets were in a good position for Thomas.
Thomas, holds 19 scholarship offers according to his 247Sports profile including offers from Auburn and Florida. Both schools are among the top of the list for the three-star prospect. While the scouting industry may not be in love with the kid, having two programs with historically strong defenses should speak to the level of Thomas’s talents.
If Thomas does decide to pull the trigger either on Friday or in the future, he will be joining a Georgia Tech class that is already looking like a great defensive recruiting class. Obviously, the class is headlined by IMG Academy’s TK Chimedza but the Jackets also have commits from Jaylon King (as mentioned above) as well as
With all that being said, Friday’s visit for Thomas will be highly important for the Yellow Jackets. While a commitment during the visit on Friday doesn’t seem likely, the visit could set the tone for the rest of his recruitment. Earlier this summer it was reported he was looking to make a decision in August if he still is, Friday’s visit is all the more important.
At this point in his recruitment, it would be shocking to see Thomas end up anywhere besides The Flats. While it may not happen Friday on his visit, the Jackets coaching staff has to like their chances moving forward.
