With less than a week until the early signing period, we take a look at a few players who could be committing to Georgia Tech football in the near future.

As of December 15th, Georgia Tech Football’s 2018 recruiting class features 17 commitments. With room to take at least four or five more recruits, the Jackets have a few top targets on campus this weekend and could have more to come. That being said, we take a look at five of the Jackets remaining targets and give our chances that they commit to the Jackets.

OL Troy Ingle – American Heritage (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

Ingle is a starting offensive lineman at Florida powerhouse American Heritage and has been one of the Jackets top recruiting targets throughout the cycle. With the Florida native, it feels as though it’s not a case of “will he flip his commitment” but “when will he flip his commitment?”.

Currently, Ingles is committed to Western Kentucky but is in Atlanta this weekend for his official visit to Tech. It wouldn’t be shocking for Ingles to flip to the Jackets following his visit this weekend especially with the early signing period less than a week away.

Paul Johnson and his staff you would imagine would like to have at least one more offensive lineman in the class if not two. Currently, they have just two O-Line commitments in Alabama’s Mike Maye and Bogart, Georgia’s Harrison Jump.

Chance of committing: 100%

ATH Lorenz Metz – Germany

We talked about Metz earlier this week as a player to watch going forward. This weekend, Metz is making an official visit to Tech which will be his fifth and final official visit. For the Yellow Jackets, having Metz taking his last official visit to The Flats is great news.

More from Football

Like fellow German and current Georgia Tech commit Julius Welschof, Metz is a rare human specimen. At 6-foot-9, and 280-pounds, he moves way quicker than he should. At the next level, his college of choice will have the opportunity to put him either on the offensive or defensive line. Like Welschof, Metz will is a raw prospect but has a ton of potential.

Ultimately, I think the German connection, premier academics, and the Jackets coaching staff’s history of turning foreign players into quality players will win over Metz.

Chance of committing: 100%

ATH Michael Barrett (Valdosta, GA)

Barrett’s decision will come down to if he wants to play defense or offense in college. If he’s alright playing defense at least to start out, he will most likely commit to Michigan. If he wants to play offense, he has a great chance to end up at Tech when it’s all said and done. Currently, Barrett has only had one official visit (Michigan) and have none scheduled for the future.

Chance of committing: 30%

ATH James Graham (Fitzgerald, GA)

Currently, a Virginia Tech commitment, Graham is visiting Tech this weekend on an official visit. The good news for the Jackets perhaps is that they are the last visit for him before next week’s early signing period in which he should be signing his LOI. The Jackets are in dire need of a quarterback in this class after losing but Matthew Jordan and Jay Jones this offseason. Right now, my gut says Graham stays with Virginia Tech.

Chance of committing: 25-30%

CB Jaylen Jackson – Brunswick (Brunswick, GA)

Jackson according to his 247Profile is visiting The Flats this weekend but there has been no confirmation that he made it down this weekend. A Georgia native, he’s currently committed to Cincinnati but I believe an offer from the Jackets could be a shakeup in his recruitment.

If Jackson receives an offer from the Jackets, I wouldn’t be shocked if he flipped his commitment to the Jackets. Can’t put too much confidence into this one until it’s confirmed he’s visiting this weekend.
