CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – JANUARY 21: Tadric Jackson /

Georgia Tech: G Tadric Jackson

After being suspended the first three games of the season, Jackson has played in each of the Jackets last five games. In those five games, he has made three starts while averaging 16.8 points per game and 4.8 rebounds.

Jackson offensively doesn’t like he’s missed much of a beat, shooting .485 from the field including .620 from two-point range. While he has struggled from beyond the arch and at the free throw line, Jackson has been able to provide a much needed offensive boost especially with a limited Ben Lammers at the Jackets disposal.

So far in his five games, Jackson has scored double digits in every game and has scored 15 or more points three times. Last time out against Wofford he had his best game of the young season, scoring 26 points, going 11-for-16 from the floor and 3-for-4 from the line.

Without Josh Okogie, Jackson has been the Jackets go to offensive player when on the court this season. Through five games, Jackson already has a 32.0% usage rate, up from last season’s 28.9%.

With all that being said, Jackson’s offensive rating this season is lower than the previous two seasons and now sits at 94.1. His low offensive rating most likely has to do with his low three-point shooting percentage (.111) and free throw percentage (.593). The senior guard is also turning the ball over 16.5% of the time, over four points higher than a season ago.

The Jackets extended break heading into their game against FAMU was the first real break for Jackson since getting back into the swing of things. Jackson’s performance on Sunday along Jose Alvarado’s will be a big determining factor in how Sunday’s game will play out.
