Georgia Tech Baseball: Jackets send strong contingent to Cape Cod
The Georgia Tech baseball program have sent one of their largest and strongest contingents of players to the Cape Cod league this summer.
Ten Georgia Tech baseball players will be playing in Cape Cod this summer, the program announced on Tuesday. The famous wooden bat summer league is considered the premier summer league in all of baseball with dozens of scouts at every game.
The ten player contingent is one of the programs largest and strongest in recent memory for comparison, last year the program sent just five players. Among those players was recent second overall pick, catcher Joey Bart.
This year’s contingency is the following;
Bourne Braves:
- Chase Murray
- Oscar Serratos
Chatham Anglers:
- Kyle McCann
- Austin Wilhite
- Tristin English
Cotuit Kettleers:
- Andy Archer
Harwich Mariners:
- Xzavion Curry
Hyannis Harbor Hawks:
- Colin Hall
Yarmoth-Dennis Red Sox:
- Brant Hurter
- Luke Waddell
Out of the ten players representing the program, the only one to be making their second trip up to the Cape is Colin Hall who played for the Harwich Mariners.
For several Yellow Jackets it will be a highly important summer as they hope to raise their draft stock heading into next year’s MLB Draft. Three players to keep especially close attention to are Xzavion Curry, Tristin English, and Kyle McCann.
Opening day for the Cape Cod league was on Monday which featured a game between the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox and the Bourne Braves. Three of the four Jackets on the two teams rosters appeared in the game with Chase Murray, Oscar Serratos, and Luke Waddell all getting starts for their respective teams.
