Georgia Tech Football: Jackets open as slight favorite over Miami
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are less than a field-goal favorite over the Miami Hurricanes for this weekend’s matchup under the lights of Bobby Dodd Stadium.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are winners of three of their last four and two straight while the Miami Hurricanes are in the middle of a three-game losing streak but for Vegas, the Yellow Jackets are only slight favorites for this Saturday’s matchup between the two programs.
According to Oddshark.com, the Yellow Jackets opened as just 2-point favorites over the Hurricanes. Bettors, however, liked the early line and have bet hard in favor of the Yellow Jackets, as the line has quickly shifted to -4.5 in favor of Tech.
One major reason for the close opening like is most likely that the series over the last 10 meetings for the two programs have been dominated by the Hurricanes, with Miami taking eight of ten games including last year’s 25-24 thriller that came down to the final minute of the game. Not to mention the fact that Miami head coach Mark Richt also has never lost in Bobby Dodd Stadium dating back to his days at Georgia.
The good news however for the Yellow Jackets is that Miami is losers of three-straight and have been a disaster on the offensive side of the ball. The Hurricanes have scored just 39 points in their last three games.
In reality, ever since the Hurricanes loss to Pittsburgh last November, the program has been in a near tailspin losing 7 of their 12 games. Not exactly what Miami had in mind when Mark Richt decided to come back to South Beach to coach the Hurricanes.
In terms of ATS (against the spread), the Yellow Jackets are on fire recently covering four of their last five games after failing to do so in each of their first four games on the season. The Yellow Jackets offense seems to be clicking at the highest (especially under Tobias Oliver) it has in quite a while while the Jackets defense is starting to come around itself.
The Yellow Jackets and Hurricanes are set to kick off at 7 pm on Saturday night under the lights of Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Yellow Jackets look to get to bowl eligibility.
