Former Alabama and Georgia commit Rashad Cheney is set to make an official visit to The Flats next weekend.

It’s been a while since we’ve posted some recruiting news but with the season now over, we should be able to get back into recruiting. In truth, we didn’t miss a ton over the season but with the NCAA Evaluation period starting back up today, there will certainly be plenty of news regarding the Yellow Jackets 2019 recruiting class over the next several weeks leading up to the early signing period.

Today’s biggest news piece is that former Alabama and UGA commit, Rashad Cheney is set to take an official visit to Georgia Tech this upcoming weekend according to the Yellow Jackets 247Sports official visits page. Cheney, a four-star recruit is ranked as the 357th best player in 247Sports composite rankings as well as the 25th best defensive tackle in the country. He’s also ranked as a top-40 player in Georgia. With that being said, 247Sports is rather down on Cheney, ranking him 630th, 40th, and 62nd in terms of his national, position, and state rankings.

Outside his visit to The Flats, Cheney is set to make one other official visit so far with a trip to Ole Miss scheduled for December 1st.

Cheney was originally committed to the Georgia Bulldogs from February 18th, 2017 to January 25th, 2018. After that, he would end up taking an unofficial visit to Alabama this past March before committing to the Tide a few days later. His commitment to Alabama would eventually break down however as he would end up decommitting at the end of last month. Since his decommitment, he has made a trip to Minnesota.

The Yellow Jackets and Cheney do know each other well as the Jackets have recruited the Ellenwood, Georgia native since February. He last made a trip and his only known trip to The Flats in October. You can view his full recruitment timeline courtesy of 247Sports, here.

According to the Yellow Jackets official visit page on 247Sports, three other recruits will be making visits to The Flats this weekend. Joining Cheney will be committed WR Zachary Owens, three-star defensive end Tomari Fox (Collins Hill – Suwanee, GA), and three-star safety Briton Allen (IMG Academy – Bradenton, FL).  The Yellow Jackets currently have 15 commitments in their 2019 recruiting class.
