Georgia Tech football picked up their third commitment in four days as 2020 in-state linebacker Tyson Meiguez committed to the Yellow Jackets.

One of the hottest teams in all of college football on the recruiting trail as of late is the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, continued their success of recent with their third commitment in four days. On Tuesday, the Jackets picked up a commitment from three-star in-state linebacker Tyson Meiguez.

A three-star linebacker, Meiguezis considered a top-500 player nationally in 247Sport’s composite rankings as well as a top-40 outside linebacker and a top-50 player in the Peach State. The Creekside High School standout joins LB Jared Behrens out of Virginia and Florida OL Cade Kootsouradis.

It’s worth noting that the Rivals network ranks Meiguez as the Jackets highest rated recruit now with a 5.7 rating. According to 247Sports’s composite rankings, he’s the third highest ranked recruit of the class only following Miles Brook and Ryan King.

Meiquez announced his commitment with the video below including a fun teaser of things to potentially come at the end.

For the Yellow Jackets, Meiquezis commit No.9 in the 2020 recruiting class. All nine commitments have come since the beginning of March and with the Yellow Jackets spring game this Friday, the Jackets could be in store for a few another commitment (or more) before the end of the month.

With the commitment, the Yellow Jackets move up to the top-15 in 247Sports’s composite class rankings. It also moves them up one spot in the ACC class rankings, putting them in the No.5 spot in the conference. Clemson, Miami, UNC, Florida State are still above the Yellow Jackets in the rankings.

As a player, Meiguez projects as an outside linebacker at the next level thanks to his 6-foot-1 and 200-pound frame. Meiguez has some notable athleticism despite not having tremendous speed (4.8 forty-yard dash). According to 247Sports’s profile on the Georgia native, Meiguez has a 35.90 vertical. It’s a pretty good vertical for a linebacker and shows that Meiguez has some quality explosion in his game which could be beneficial when it comes to pass rushing and related abilities. Overall, Meiguez once again proves that Geoff Collins and his staff are focused on recruiting great athletes.
