This weekend will be a busy one for Geoff Collins and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, as eight recruits from the 2023 signing class will visit the Flats over the course of the week. The positions are wide ranging and seem to address some of the key areas that the Yellow Jackets have been trying to improve in moving forward. Let’s breakdown all eight recruits.

Elias Cloy, IOL

Cloy has been offered scholarships by 21 other colleges around the nation, but Georgia Tech is one of three Power 5 schools to offer him. From Alpharetta High School, located less than an hour away from Bobby Dodd Stadium, Cloy stands at 6’4 and weighs 280 pounds. He primarily played right guard for the Raiders in 2022. Rivals has Cloy rated as a three-star recruit. Check out highlights here.

Elijah Douglas, DE

Standing at a similar frame with Cloy is three-star defensive lineman Elijah Douglas, who resides in Pensacola, Florida playing for the Pine Forest Eagles. Douglas ranked fifth on his team in tackles for loss last season with 10, as well as collecting 3 sacks. The Eagles went 12-2 last season, ultimately coming up short in the state championship game. Ashton Heflin, Linebacker

Another in-state recruit for the Yellow Jackets will be Ashton Heflin, another three-star recruit that plays his high school ball with the Newnan Cougars. Heflin stands at 6’2 and 220 pounds, which is a great size for a versatile linebacker that could line up in the middle or on the outside. Heflin finished last season with 54 tackles, 2 sacks, and an interception. Check out his highlights here.

Kamal Bonner, Safety

Bonner will travel from Colquitt County High School to visit the Yellow Jackets, where he tied for second tackles for loss on the Packers roster last season, which is saying something for a safety. He is listed as a three-star recruit on Rivals and is poised to rise up the ranks during his senior season. Last season, Bonner had 40 tackles, a pair of passes defended, a caused fumble, and three fumble recoveries. Check out his highlights here.

Gensley Auguste, Defensive Line

Auguste will travel from New Jersey to visit the Yellow Jackets, but he will be quite the recruit if Georgia Tech can pick him up. He stands 6’6 255 pounds, a premiere size for a defensive tackle. He plays nose tackle at West Orange High School, where he looks to be a great run stopper with excellent size for a three-star recruit. Check out his highlights here.

Trey Cornist, Running Back

Another player that will be visiting the Yellow Jackets will be three-star running back Trey Cornist from Cincinnati, Ohio. Last season with the Winton High School Warriors, Cornist compiled 1,304 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. Cornist would also lead the Warriors to their first state championship since 2009. Check out his highlights here.

Zachariah Keith, Edge

In June last year, Keith committed to the Yellow Jackets, but wound up decommitting in January. After five months of collecting offers from schools such as Michigan State, Florida State, and UCF, Keith has made his way back to the Flats for another round of official visits, with the Yellow Jackets hoping that the three-star edge rusher will once again commit to them. Check out his highlights here.

Grant Tucker, ATH

Of the eight players that are visiting the Yellow Jackets this weekend, Tucker may be the most important to land. He is a four-star recruit from Charlotte, North Carolina who is listed as a ATH, which means he can play any skill position needed, including running back, receiver, and cornerback. He played mostly receiver and cornerback last season and finished with 297 receiving yards and four touchdowns on the offensive end, and 34 tackles, 2 sacks, and an interception on the defensive end.
