The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are locks to make the ACC tournament, and while some fans did not think that the Yellow Jackets had what it took after sitting at 9-12 last month, the team has rallied late in the season, in large part to sophomore Baye Ndongo.
The first half of the season, one could argue that Ndongo was underperforming, as he was coming off of a stellar freshman campaign that seen him put up 12 points and eight rebounds per game, quickly becoming one of the premiere players on the team.
This season, Ndongo put up similar stats in the first half that he did last season, not showing growth. However, he has now come to life and hit his late season stride.
Over the course of the last eleven games, Ndongo has scored in double digits in ten of them, including a career-high 26 points in a Yellow Jackets 90-88 overtime win over the California Bears on Feb. 15. Ndongo would also get the buzzer beating tip in in the contest.
Ndongo is also coming off of a stretch of four straight games where he has put up a double double, including grabbing 17 rebounds the last time that the team took the court.
It seemed that the Yellow Jackets were just waiting for Ndongo to figure it out, and it looks like he has put together a great run to close out the regular season.
The Yellow Jackets will host the NC State Wolfpack tomorrow at 2pm Eastern time for their regular season finale.
