The focus of every head coach in the college football world is geared towards the start of the 2025 season, but some coaches are overlooking a very crucial time right now, as the entire month has been a hotbed for recruiting visits and commits for the players in the 2026 recruiting cycle. One of those coaches that has not overlooked this time period is Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets coach Brent Key.

Key has hit the recruiting trail hard during the month of June, as he has secured six hard commits in the last 17 days. The position groups of those players go like this: three offensive linemen, two receivers, and one defensive lineman.

The highest rated of the bunch comes from Darnell Collins, a three-star wide receiver from Rome, Ga. Collins signed with the Yellow Jackets on June 2, the same day that fellow wide receiver teammate Jeremy Winston announced his commitment to the Yellow Jackets.

All six of the players signed this month are three-star recruits, and all but one, defensive lineman Alex Willis, are from the state of Georgia. Offensive linemen brothers Courtlin and Courtney Heard are from Sharpsburg, Ga., while offensive lineman Bear Fretwell is from Brooklet, Ga.

The surge of recruits and focus on recruiting in the offseason is crucial for Key and the Yellow Jackets, as they now are becoming prominent as a program and will look to continue that momentum moving forward, and it starts by bringing in highly touted recruits like they have been this offseason.
