With the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets extending their streak of not having a player drafted in the NBA Draft to eight after not having a selection in the 2025 draft, the Yellow Jackets are in desperate need of getting talent to the next level, and the player that could turn that around for the Yellow Jackets could be junior forward Baye Ndongo.
Ndongo has been one of the top two players for the Yellow Jackets in each of the past two seasons, as he had a standout freshman season in 2023, as he started in 29 games for the team and put up 12.4 points per game while averaging 8.2 rebounds per game. Ndongo was named as a finalist for the Kyle Macy Award, which is given to the top freshman in all of Division I basketball.
Ndongo furthered that production with an even better sophomore campaign, as he 13.4 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game, securing him a spot on the All-ACC Third team and finished with the fourth highest rebound total in the entire conference.
Ndongo could be the best draft prospect to come through the Yellow Jackets program since Josh Okogie in 2018, the last player that the Yellow Jackets had drafted into the NBA.
Ndongo has established himself as one of the top players in the ACC, with his interior defense and shot blocking ability, Ndongo is an interior threat on both ends of the court, and could be used on multiple when he decides to enter the NBA Draft, making him the most likely person to break the eight-year streak.
