Could Georgia Tech basketball center Mouhamed Sylla be a one-and-done?

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets head coach Damon Stoudamire hit the recruiting trail hard this offseason, as he was able to bring in six new recruits, and among them was perhaps the best recruit that the Yellow Jackets have gotten in recent memory, as he landed center Mohamed Sylla, who was the No.3 rated center in the entire 2025 recruiting class. But, how long will Sylla stay?

Sylla will without a doubt see a ton of playing time for the Yellow Jackets in 2025, as the team could only have one other viable option other than Baye Ndongo in Luke O’ Brien. However, I think Stoudamire puts Sylla at the five for well over 20 minutes per game at least and has O’Brien coming off the bench most of the time.

The question will be, if Sylla does have a productive season, will he leave for another school or possibly the NBA Draft, or does he stay with the Yellow Jackets?

I think that Sylla will be paired with Ndongo to create one of the best front courts in the entire ACC this season, and while I do think he will be productive, it will not be enough to garner attention in the NBA Draft, and I would like to think that he would stay with the Yellow Jackets after next season if he has a good one in 2025.

Sylla has the potential to be right up to par with Ndongo as an interior defender and a creative shot blocker and rebounder, which NBA scouts love. The Yellow Jackets could have their next big NBA prospect in Sylla, and I think he plays at least two or three seasons with the Yellow Jackets to develop.
