The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets secondary brought in one of the biggest name recruits in the 2025 recruiting class in safety Tae Harris, but what are the odds of him starting for the 2025 season?
Harris is the Yellow Jackets second highest rated recruit in the 2025 class, coming in behind offensive lineman Josh Petty, and if you ask me, Yellow Jackets head coach Brent Key and new defensive coordinator Blake Gideon should feel some pressure to give Harris significant playing time with the way the transfer portal is going now, because if they don’t, Harris could bolt after this season.
Harris is the No.3 rated safety in the 2025 class from Cedartown, Georgia, so he has shown that he has the talent as a prospect to be on the field, and it would be an easy decision to me to maybe even start for the Yellow Jackets in a crowded secondary that includes Clayton Powell-Lee and Savion Riley, which he will most likely split starting time with Riley, while Powell-Lee will have a guaranteed starting spot for the entire season.
Being a safety will help Harris’ playing time tremendously, as the cornerback room for the Yellow Jackets would be much more crowded and harder to find playing time for the team.
Harris will see the field a lot during his career with the Yellow Jackets, and being put out there early in his career will be something beneficial to both sides, as Harris gets his playing time and the Yellow Jackets get one of the top prospects in the recruiting class.
