The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team could take the court for the last time today, as they take on the Virginia Cavaliers in the second round of the ACC Tournament, and it will be against a team that is favorable to the Yellow Jackets.
The Cavaliers beat the Yellow Jackets on Feb. 8 in Charlottesville 75-61, but the Yellow Jackets were favored by 6.5 points in that contest, and heading into the game today, the Yellow Jackets are favored by 1.5 points.
The two teams will look at the film from that game to see what they did right and duplicate it in the second matchup, and that starts with the Cavaliers looking at rebounds, as they had a 38-24 edge in that category in the earlier matchup.
That means that the Yellow Jackets are looking at staying out of foul trouble, which they only committed seven fouls in the matchup earlier this season, and shooting effectively from the three point line, making eight of 18 shots from beyond the arc the last time the two teams met.
Since that game against the Cavaliers, the Yellow Jackets have put together a nice run, finishing the season winning five of their last seven games and securing the eight seed in the ACC Tournament.
The winner of this game will have a tough road ahead, as they will take on the top-seeded Duke Blue Devils in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.
They game is set to tip off at Noon Eastern time.
