The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have finished their regular season, and with the team on the far outside looking in, here are games that Yellow Jackets fans will want to watch and what would need to happen for the Yellow Jackets to be dancing in the NCAA Tournament in two weeks.
The easiest answer for the path for the Yellow Jackets is that they win the ACC, simply because it gives them an auto bid in the NCAA Tournament, which depending on the one-seed in the tournament, it could be more realistic than people think.
In what will be their second round of the tournament, the eighth seeded Yellow Jackets could face a handful of teams that are battling for the ninth seed, whether it be Virginia, Virginia Tech, Florida State, or Notre Dame. The Yellow Jackets have gone a combined 1-4 against those four teams, splitting 1-1 with Notre Dame in the regular season.
In the second round, the Yellow Jackets would need to beat the top seed in the second round. The Louisville Cardinals could get the top-seed if the Duke Blue Devils lose to the North Carolina Tar Heels tonight, and Yellow Jackets have already beat the Cardinals this season.
Then the Yellow Jackets would need to beat what could be a combination of teams that could change depending on game results. However, the first two pieces of the puzzle would be to for sure get two wins in the ACC tournament to even be considered for a spot in the NCAA National Tournament, including a win against the top-ranked team in the ACC Tournament.
Getting an outright ACC Championship would take a lot for the team to do, but the Yellow Jackets could still wiggle their way in if they get to at least the semifinals in the ACC Tournament.
