Georgia Tech’s perfect season came to an end Saturday night in Raleigh, as the Yellow Jackets fell 48–36 to NC State. For the first time this year, Tech’s defense simply had no answers. It felt like the unit never got on the plane. The Wolfpack piled up 583 total yards and averaged 8.7 yards per play, turning almost every drive into a big-gain threat.

Georgia Tech entered the game at 8–0, ranked No. 8 in the nation, and unbeaten in ACC play. The loss drops them to 5–1 in the conference, which means the margin for error is now gone. The Jackets must take care of business against Boston College next week and then Pittsburgh at home to stay on track for a spot in the ACC Championship Game. The Pitt matchup looming at Bobby Dodd is now even more important — and after Saturday’s performance, Tech will need every ounce of crowd energy it can get.

The Remaining Path

But despite the defensive struggles, Georgia Tech fans stayed loud, loyal, and surprisingly positive online after the loss. Many reminded each other that one setback doesn’t erase what has been a special season. Some pointed out how far the team has come in a short time. Others encouraged fans to breathe and not panic — the path to the ACC title game is still very much alive.

Yes, the defense must bounce back, and yes, Saturday was rough. But one loss hasn’t shaken the belief of the Yellow Jacket faithful. Tech still controls its destiny with two ACC games left, and the fanbase isn’t jumping ship.

If this team responds the right way, this loss may end up being the wake-up call that fuels an even stronger finish.
