Despite the College Football Playoff Committee disrespecting the Georgia Tech Yelow Jackets for the Virginia Cavaliers. Georgia Tech still has a clear path to the playoffs and Yellow Jackets fans know that.
Tuesday night on the first playoff bracket rankings of the season. The CFP committee had Virginia winning the ACC and Georgia Tech left out of the playoffs.
Brent Key and Haynes Kings have two ACC games left. At the Boston College Eagles and home against the Pittsburgh Panthers.
If they win those two games, they will head to Charlotte to play for the ACC championship. They also finish the season with a big non-conference game. That would be a huge resume builder if they were to pull it off. That is a home game against the No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs from the southeastern conference (SEC).
The Yellow Jackets are on a bye week. Before returning to action next week at Boston College. This is the perfect time for a bye, not just coming off the first loss of the season, but because of the way the defense looked.
If Blake Gideon can get the defense playing strong again. The ACC championship and a playoff appearance could be real for Haynes King and crew.
Georgia Tech fans understand the reality of the situation. The playoff rankings at this point don’t mean much for the jackets. If they win out, including the ACC championship, they’re in the playoff.
If they lose in the ACC championship game, but they win their last three regular season games that could also be a path. As mentioned above their last regular game is against the number five ranked Georgia Bulldogs.
If they go into the ACC championship game with a record of 11 –1. That Georgia win would be huge for them, but they don’t need that win to get in. Just win the rest of their ACC games.
